Column: Monks from France head to Pine Ridge Reservation

A group of monks from France will visit the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota, home to the Oglala Sioux Tribe:
Each year, tens of thousands of young adults migrate to the small village of Taizé in central France to immerse themselves in song and prayer at a monastery.

Now the monks of the ecumenical Taizé community are taking that experience for the first time ever to a Native American reservation.

Three teams each, made up of Taizé brothers and volunteers, are traveling across South Dakota — sharing meals, conversation and prayer — while extending an invitation to young adults to attend the Taizé pilgrimage at Pine Ridge.
