The
Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians
will be spending $26 million on a jail and justice center.
The original cost of the jail was $20 million. But the tribe added a courthouse and police station to the project, raising the price tag.
The tribe is using $18 million from the
American Recovery and Reinvestment Act
.
