By Christina Rose
Native Sun News Associate Editor A dance event organized by Vaughn Vargas, student at the Oglala Lakota College and board member of the Adolescent Substance Abuse Prevention was held at Main Street Square in Rapid City, S.D. on Friday afternoon. More than 100 people came to see break dancers, cloggers, zumba instructors, and a hoop dance both on the stage and on a special floor near the pavilion. Linda Colhoff-Glover, project director for ASAP, said, “Our goal is to prevent binge drinking in kids from 18 to 24-year-olds. We know providing fun activities like this can help prevent drinking." The Vice-President of the organization said Friday’s event was the brain child of Vargas, and the group hopes to hold more events in the future. Copyright permission by Native Sun News
