House subcommittee to take up Indian energy bill at hearing





The House Subcommittee on Indian and Alaska Native Affairs holds a hearing tomorrow on H.R.1548, the Native American Energy Act.

Rep. Don Young (R-Alaska), the chairman of the subcommittee, introduced the bill on April 12. The goal is to speed up federal review and approval of energy projects in Indian Country and on land owned by Alaska Native corporations.

The hearing takes place at 11am in Room 1324 of the Longworth House Office Building. Michael Black, the director of the Bureau of Indian Affairs, is the sole witness.
