The Wisconsin Building Commission delayed a vote on rescinding a $250,000 grant for the Lac du Flambeau Tribe.
The tribe received the money for a cultural center. But a Republican
lawmaker wanted to revoke the grant due to a dispute over tribal fishing limits.
The commission, however, declined to take action yesterday. State officials will be meeting with tribal leaders next Monday in hopes of resolving the dispute.
Gov. Scott Walker
(R), who sits on the commission, opposes rescinding the money.
Two Democrats also said they didn't want to take back the grant.
