Yakama Nation protest seeks information on trust settlement

Members of the Yakama Nation of Washington held a protest on Monday in hopes of finding out more about the tribe's trust fund settlement.

The settlement isn't final but it's anticipated that the tribe will receive $188 million. Protesters want to ensure the money is distributed on a per capita basis.

“I’m hoping for a big check,” protester Louie Chales told The Yakima Herald-Republic. “We already voted for it and everything and we still ain’t getting it.”

Chairman Harry Smiskin said the tribe is planning a per cap.
