The
Chickasaw Nation
of Oklahoma has named
Neal McCaleb
as its new ambassador at large.
McCaleb served as head of the
Bureau of Indian Affairs
from July 2001 to December 2002, during the Bush administration. He then started working for the Chickasaw Nation, overseeing his tribe's economic development efforts.
McCaleb's new role will be similar to that of the late Charles Blackwell, who was the tribe's ambassador to the U.S. Blackwell, who was based in Washington, D.C., died on January 2.
