Senate Indian Affairs Committee schedules hearing on budget





The Senate Indian Affairs Committee will hold an oversight hearing next Wednesday, April 24, on the fiscal year 2014 budget request for tribal programs.

President Barack Obama is requesting $2.6 billion for the Bureau of Indian Affairs. That's a $31.3 million increase over the 2012 level.

The budget seeks $4.7 billion for the Indian Health Service. That's an increase of $230 million from 2012.

The hearing will take place at 2:15pm in Room 628 of the Senate Dirksen Office Building. A witness list hasn't been posted online.
