Representatives of the energy industry support a new tax agreement for the
Mandan, Hidatsa and Arikara
Nation of North Dakota.
The tribe wants to receive an equal share of revenues from energy taxes produced on the Fort Berthold Reservation. Currently, the tribe receives 80 percent from trust lands but only 20 percent from fee lands.
“We’ve always intended that we would come back to the table,” tribal council member Fred Fox told the North Dakota Senate Appropriations Committee, The Bismarck Tribune reported.
