Tribal members see record bison hunting season in Montana

Tribal members are enjoying a record bison hunting season in Montana, The Wall Street Journal reports.

Some 249 bison have been killed during the winter 2012-2013 season. Of those, 212 were taken by tribal members.

"It's been a pretty successful year," said McCoy Oatman, a council member for the Nez Perce Tribe of Idaho, told the paper. "It's been very beneficial to tribal members to go over there and fill their freezers."

The bison are killed in Montana when they wander out of Yellowstone National Park. The state has expanded the areas in which the animals can be hunted.
