Sen. Tim Johnson
(D-South Dakota), a longtime friend of Indian Country, is expected to announce his plans to retire from the
Senate
.
Johnson is a member of the
Senate Indian Affairs Committee
, the
Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee
and the
Senate Appropriations Committee
. He has used his positions to advocate for Indian health, education, law enforcement, water rights and trust reform.
Johnson is making an announcement about his plans later today.
