Chippewa Cree Tribe meets to consider future of chairman





The Chippewa Cree Tribe of Montana meets today to consider the fate of suspended Chairman Ken Blatt St. Marks.

The meeting was closed to outsiders. St. Marks said he wouldn't be attending.

"Why should I attend my own hanging? St. Marks told The Havre Daily News.

The tribal council suspended St. Marks for alleged dereliction of duty. He believes he's being targeted because he has encouraged federal agencies to investigate corruption on the reservation.
