Hoopa Valley Tribe orders halt to more trailers on reservation

The leader of the Hoopa Valley Tribe of California has issued a moratorium on incoming trailer homes.

Chairman Leonard Masten Jr. said the reservation is overrun with trailer homes. Some are dangerous and uninhabitable while others have been abandoned, he said.

"They're dangerous and we don't want our tribal people in those situations," Masten told KREM-TV.

The tribe is conducting an inventory of existing trailer homes.
