The
Standing Rock Sioux Tribe
now has its own special federal prosecutor.
Erin Shanley
will handle cases involving domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault and stalking. She can pursue cases in tribal court as well as the federal courts in North Dakota and South Dakota.
The tribe signed a memorandum of understanding with the
U.S. Attorney's Office in North Dakota
and the
U.S. Attorney's Office in South Dakota
to address violent crime against women.
