The
Santa Ynez Band of
Chumash Indians in California expects to complete construction of a new gas station in June.
The Chumash Service Station includes 10 gas pumps, a 2,500-square-foot convenience store and a car wash.
It will replace an older station across the street.
The tribe bought the 1.14-acre site in 2006, The Solvang Valley News reported. The land is not in trust.
In related news, tribal members re-elected Chairman Vincent Armenta and all other incumbents on the council.
