Police officers in Guyana are facing an investigation after a video posted online shows them beating Indian activists.

The tribal members were protesting illegal mining of their traditional territory. Report say at least two men, along with a woman and her child, were injured in clash with police on Sunday.

“It doesn’t look good. From what I am hearing, one of the child’s feet might have been broken,” Police Commissioner Leroy Brummel told The Demerara Waves News.

The Guyana Geology and Mines Commission is holding an emergency meeting today to discuss the incident.
