South Dakota Indian Child Welfare Act conference scheduled

The South Dakota Indian Child Welfare Act Coalition and the Bureau of Indian Affairs will host a summit next month.

Tribal leaders have been asking the BIA to hold the summit for more than a year. It will finally take place April 15-17 in Rapid City.

The summit comes on the heels of a report that accuses the state of violating the Indian Child Welfare Act.
