Southern Ute Tribe sees scrutiny on employee compensation

Members of the Southern Ute Tribe of Colorado are raising questions about the compensation levels of certain employees.

The Southern Ute Indian Tribe Growth Fund manages the tribe's diverse business portfolio. The entity has about 600 employees.

“We work with some very good people to make sure we’re paying salaries that are competitive in the industries we invest in,” Growth Fund Director Bob Zahradnik said at a meeting organized by tribal members, The Durango Herald reported.

The group that organized the meeting plans to ask tribal leaders for more information about salaries.
