Five rock carvings that were stolen from a site in California have been recovered thanks to an anonymous tip.
Vandals used hammers and saws to remove the carvings from an area known as the Volcanic Tableland. They carvings date back 3,500 years and were taken from an area considered sacred to the Bishop Paiute Tribe.
“This was a terrible thing to happen from their perspective, Bureau of Land Management spokesperson David Christy told the Associated Press. “We are extremely pleased to get them back.”
No arrests have been made in the case.
