Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe loses decision in water rights case

The Nevada Supreme Court ruled against the Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe in a water rights case.

The tribe opposed the issuance of water applications from the Tracy Segment Hydrographic Basin. The tribe said the applications would conflict with its "senior" water rights on the Truckee River.

In a unanimous decision, the court rejected the tribe's argument. The state engineer considered the potential impact on the Truckee River and found no conflict, the decision stated.
