Quechan Nation swears in council members after challenge

The Quechan Nation swore in five council members after two election challenges were resolved.

Tribal members went to the polls on December 3, 2012. An open meeting was held December 28 to hear the challenges, both of which were dismissed by a majority of those present.

Incumbents Virgil S. Smith, Emilio Escalanti, Juliana M. Comet and Clivia Cyndee Miller retained their seats. Newcomer Michael J.V. Jack was also elected.

The Quechan Nation is located in Arizona and California.
