Posted: Thursday, January 10, 2013
The $3.4 billion
Cobell trust fund settlement
is expected to bring more than $67 million to Indian beneficiaries in North Dakota.
Attorney David Smith said the historical accounting portion of the settlement will result in $13.169 million for North Dakota beneficiaries. The checks were mailed in mid-December.
The trust administration portion of the settlement will bring another $55.548 million to the state, according to Smith. Those payments aren't expected until later this year.
