Hoopa Valley Tribe approves $10K per capita from settlement

The Hoopa Valley Tribe of California approved a $10,000 per capita payment, with the money coming from a $49.2 trust fund settlement.

The tribe has yet to receive the settlement. But once it's deposited into a trust account, $31,269,000 will be distributed on a per capita basis to all members.

"It’s our money and we want it now," Pauline Van Bergen said at a council meeting in which the per cap was approved, The Two Rivers Tribune reported.
