Hoopa Valley Tribe open to distribution for trust settlement

The Hoopa Valley Tribe of California is reportedly open to distributing a $49 million trust fund settlement on a per capita basis but some members are pushing for a vote on the issue.

Holding signs that read "This is my money and I want it now" and "$ for the people," tribal members held a protest outside the council chambers yesterday. They are worried that tribal leaders will mismanage the trust fund settlement reached with the Obama administration.

Ryan Jackson, a council member, said the tribe isn't opposed to distributing a portion of the settlement to members.
