Letter: Pechanga Band brings peace in dispute on sacred site

"The Pechanga tribe has stepped forward and saved this land, these elegant hills, for eternity. I, for one, owe them a boundless debt of gratitude. They saved the community of Rainbow when they saved their land. They will always be my heroes.

At the press conference that the tribe held last week, we stood on the rooftop of the Pechanga Casino’s parking structure, surrounded by the stunning, rocky mountains, looking at the Pu’eska Mountain. We listened as Tribal Chairman Mark Macarro spoke of the value of this land, past and present, to the tribe."
