Navajo Nation President Ben Shelly has endorsed Democrat Richard Carmona for U.S. Senate in Arizona.
Shelly cited Carmona's support for Indian veterans and economic development in Indian Country.
Carmona visited the Navajo Nation during his campaign.
“Dr. Carmona shares my vision of job creation and prosperity. He has been to Navajo and understands our issues. Dr. Carmona has my full support,” Shelly said today.
Carmona served as U.S. Surgeon General during the Bush administration. When he was in private practice in southern Arizona, he frequently served patients from the Tohono O'odham, Yaqui and other tribes.
