Tribal members who are attending the 2012 Democratic National Convention want to meet with Elizabeth Warren, the U.S. Senate candidate who can't document her alleged Indian ancestry.

Warren, who grew up in Oklahoma, has claimed Cherokee and Delaware ancestry but lacks proof. Her claims have been criticized by Republican Scott Brown, the incumbent, and by Cherokee activists who have been unable to meet with her.

“If she is not an enrolled member, then she shouldn’t represent that she is Native American. Our issues are too important," Frank LaMere, a member of the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska and a long-time Democratic leader, told The Boston Herald.
