The
Chippewa Cree Tribe
of Montana said it is implementing new procedures in response to a
Department of Justice
audit.
The tribe received $12.3 million in
American Recovery and Reinvestment Act
funds to build a new detention facility. A
July 2012 audit
found fault with the way the grant was handled although it appears only $219 was in question.
The tribe has spent about $7.9 million of the grant so far.
