President Barack Obama won't be there but the Menominee Nation of Wisconsin is still excited to welcome his re-election team to the reservation today.

Campaign representatives and other supporters will host a meeting in Keshena this afternoon. It's part of the Obama for America Heartland RV Tour, which focuses on economic issues.

“I am thrilled to hear that the Obama campaign has chosen the Menominee Community. With rural Indian communities, travel to the larger venues becomes problematic due to overwhelming unmet needs of that community," Chairman Craig Corn said.

"I think it’s important that rural Indian communities, such as the Menominee Reservation, receive equal opportunity to engage with the national campaign in order to ask questions and receive information that matters to them.” Corn added. “I applaud the Obama campaign for focusing on the importance of rural Indian Country.”

Obama won Wisconsin in 2008 by a large margin. This year, polls show a tighter race against Mitt Romney, whose running mate, Rep. Paul Ryan, is from Wisconsin.

Ryan's district includes the site where the Menominee Nation wants to build an off-reservation casino.
