Al Adams, Alaska Native former state lawmaker, passes away

Albert "Al" Adams, a former state lawmaker who represented Alaska Native and rural interests, died on Monday. He was 70.

Adams served in the state House and the Senate between 1981 and 2000. He later went on to become a lobbyist for Native corporations and organizations.

“Al will be remembered for his many accomplishments but also for his quick wit, keen insights and unyielding commitment to working for what was best for Alaska. He always greeted you with a quick smile, a hard handshake and a reassuring pat on the back. Al was a dear friend and I will miss him," Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) said in press release.

Funeral services take place in Anchorage on Wednesday and in Kotzebue on Friday.
