Jicarilla Apache Nation police report death of man after shootout

Police from the Jicarilla Apache Nation of New Mexico said a man was found dead after shootout early Sunday morning.

A man reportedly broke into a gas station on the reservation and shot at officers. After four-hour standoff, he was found dead inside the building.

The incident comes a week after a man shot at tribal officers. Rex Michael Sherwood, 48, fled the scene but police haven't said whether he is the man who died yesterday.
