Cherokee women unable to get a meeting with Elizabeth Warren

Four Cherokee women tried but were unable to get a meeting with Elizabeth Warren, the Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate in Massachusetts.

The women wanted to talk to Warren about her claims of Cherokee ancestry. But they said her campaign staff reneged on a promise to do so.

“We had the secondary goal of educating the public on Indian identity and that we’re educated, articulate people and we accomplished that,” Twila Barnes, a member of the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma, told The Boston Herald.

Warren, who grew up in Oklahoma, believes she has Cherokee and Delaware ancestors but lacks documentation.
