The
Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe
in Minnesota will begin a recount this afternoon to confirm the results of the race for chairman.
Carri Jones, 32, was certified as the winner of the election. But only five votes separated her and incumbent chair Arthur “Archie” LaRose.
If the results are affirmed, Jones will be the first woman and the youngest person to lead the tribe.
