The Hoopa Valley Tribe of California could receive $49.2 million as part of a trust fund settlement with the Obama administration.

The tribe accepted the offer in early March, an attorney said. But the settlement hasn't been finalized and the tribe wasn't part of an announcement at the White House last month.

“It’s not a final settlement,” attorney Tom Schlosser said at a general membership meeting last week, The Two Rivers Tribune reported. “This money may never be received. I think it will."

Schlosser said it could be at least a month before the settlement is finalized.
