Mohegan Tribe worried about housing project on historic sites

The
Mohegan Tribe of Connecticut is worried that a housing development will harm historic sites.
The 120-unit project includes property that belonged to
Uncas, a tribal official said.
Uncas led the tribe in the 1600s during the Pequot War and King Philip's War.
"There are properties and sites within that parcel that are important to the Mohegan people and, I would assume, the people of Montville," Chuck Bunnell, the tribe's chief of staff, told The New London Day. "We want to make sure they're not disturbed or damaged."
The tribe is talking with the developers and the town of Montville about the project, Bunnell said.
