First Nation in British Columbia worried about oil shipwreck

The Gitga'at Nation of British Columbia says an old shipwreck is leaking fuel in local waters.

The ship is believed to be a U.S. military vessel that sank in 1946. There were a reported 771 tons of fuel on board and now there's a slick on Hartley Bay.

"It's definitely from that ship," Chief Arnold Clifton told CBC News.

The Canadian Department of Fisheries and Oceans acknowledges the leak but says it's very small, which Clifton disputes.
