"Whenever American Canyon City Attorney William Ross characterizes a situation as serious, we believe him. “Serious” is how Ross described the efforts for federal recognition of the Mishewal Wappo Tribe of Alexander Valley and restoration of their lands in Napa County.

Ross described the gravity of the situation while urging City Council to adopt a resolution opposing the recognition at the joint city council/board of supervisors meeting Tuesday.

We trust his judgment. There can be little doubt that if given recognition, a Wappo gaming casino within Napa County will soon follow."
