Nez Perce police officer charged with lying about shooting

A police officer for the Nez Perce Tribe of Idaho has been charged for lying about a police-officer shooting.

Trevor M. Garret allegedly lied to FBI agents who were investigating the November 12, 2011, shooting of Jeffrey Allen Flinn. Garret entered a not guilty plea, The Lewiston Tribune reported.

Flinn, 45, was shot and killed after stealing a pickup and leading police officers on a chase. The officer who allegedly fired the fatal shot was not charged due to lack of evidence, the Tribune reported.
