Agua Caliente Band schedules election for chairman post

The Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians of California will hold a special election in June to fill the chairman's post.

Richard Milanovich led the tribe until his death on March 10. He was re-elected to the post four days later, prompting Vice Chair Jeff L. Grubbe to step in as acting chair.

Grubbe told The Palm Springs Desert Sun he will run for chairman. Other candidates are expected to file.

If Grubbe wins, the tribe will hold another special election to fill the vice chairman post, the paper said.
