Posted: Thursday, March 22, 2012
Josephine Jackson, a former treasurer for the
Saginaw Chippewa Tribe of Michigan, died on Monday. She was 76.
Jackson is credited with helping bring economic development to the reservation. She was on the council in the early 1980s when the tribe visited the
Seminole Tribe in Florida to learn more about the burgeoning Indian gaming industry.
“She was always looking for a way to enhance the revenue for the tribe,” long-time friend Bonnie Sprague told The Mt. Pleasant Morning Sun.
