Symphony receives $177K in grants for Lakota Music Project

The South Dakota Symphony Orchestra has received three grants totaling $177,500 for its
Lakota Music Project.
The effort brings together classical musicians with the New Porcupine Singers, a Lakota drum group. The groups toured three reservations and two communities during the first phase of the project.
The grants will pay for the second phase of the project. The groups will visit six more reservations in the state.
