Two-year-old boy from Nooksack Tribe is being laid to rest

A two-year-old boy from the Nooksack Tribe of Washington died last Friday after drowning in a bathtub, authorities said.

Garret A. Charlie was living with his aunt and uncle. He had been placed in their home because his mother was undergoing substance abuse treatment.

His death has been ruled an accident but authorities could still file criminal charges. No adults were present when Charlie was taking a bath with his two young cousins, The Bellingham Herald reported.

Funeral services are taking place at the tribe's community building.
