Cynthia Gomez, a member of the
Tule River Tribe
, has been named tribal advisor to California
Gov. Jerry Brown
(D) .
Gomez, 54, will advise Brown on tribal issues. She will facilitate consultation and communication between tribes and state agencies and will review all state legislation and regulations affecting tribes.
Gomez also will serve as executive secretary for the
Native American Heritage Commission
.
