Indian inmate reaches settlement over use of sweat lodge

An Indian inmate reached another agreement with corrections officials in New Mexico over his access to a sweat lodge.

Jimmy Neal Kinslow, who is reported to be Potawatomi, reached his first agreement in 2008. But then he was transferred to a prison Florida, where he said he was forced to cut his hair and was denied access to a sweat lodge.

After filing a new lawsuit, Kinslow reached another settlement with New Mexico. He will return to prison there and regain access to a sweat lodge and to other religious items.

Kinslow, 53, a convicted murderer, was one of seven inmates who escaped from the New Mexico New Mexico on July 4, 1987.
