The San Manuel Band of Mission Indians has donated $200,000 to a fellow California tribe.
The Torres Martinez Desert Cahuilla Indians will use the money to restore a historic tribal schoolhouse. The building will be turned into a museum.
“Our future as native people and tribal governments depend on education, the ability to deal with a changing world,” San Manuel spokesperson Jacob Coin told The Riverside Press-Enterprise of the donation.
