Mississippi Choctaw council won't reverse order for new election

The tribal council of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians met on Thursday but did not take action to reverse their order for a new chief's election.

The election is scheduled for September 6. Incumbent Beasley Denson and challenger Phyliss J. Anderson, a council member, will face off once again.

Anderson defeated Denson in the original election but the council invalidated the results.
