Lummi Nation and county outline costs of ferry agreement

The Lummi Nation and Whatcom County in Washington outlined the costs of a new agreement for the Lummi Island ferry.

The tribe owns the land where the ferry docks. The county has agreed to pay $200,000 a year to the tribe, with adjustments for inflation.

The county also agreed to pay $6 million in long-term infrastructure improvements. The money won't be spent until matching funds are raised.

The deal still needs final approval from the tribal council and the county council.
