Cobell team to hold meetings in Oklahoma to discuss settlement

Attorneys for the Indian trust fund lawsuit will be in Oklahoma next week to discuss the $3.4 billion settlement to the case.

Keith Harper, Rob Harmala and Alex Pearl will be at the Wichita Tribe Housing Authority Iscani Community, 1 Coronado Circle, Anadarko, at 10am on Monday, March 14. At 3:30pm that day, they will head to the Best Western Motel, 1125 East Gore Blvd., in Lawton for a second meeting.

On Tuesday, March 15, the attorneys will be in Durant for a meeting at the Choctaw Casino and Resort Conference Center, 4418 South Hwy 69/75 at 1pm.

On Wednesday, March 16, the attorneys will be at the Muskogee Civic Center, 2nd Floor, Room D, 425 Boston St., Muskogee, at 10am. Later Wednesday, they head to the Tulsa Creek Community Building, 8611 South Union Ave, Tulsa, for a meeting at 6pm.

"The settlement represents a hard-won victory for individual Indians," lead plaintiff Elouise Cobell said. "Our hope is that these meetings and a public awareness campaign we are conducting will get hundreds of thousands of Native Americans to apply for these funds. It has always been their money and I am delighted we can finally return some of it to them."
