Lummi Nation receives grant to help members with small business

The Lummi Nation of Washington has received a $300,000 grant to help its members start small businesses.

The money came from the Paul G. Allen Family Foundation. The Lummi Nation Service Organization will use the grant to train about 120 people and help 14 open their own businesses.

"The tribe has such a compelling vision of economic health and security for its members," Bill Vesneski of the foundation told The Bellingham Herald. "At the same time I think they really want to be an economic generator for the community."
