The U.S. Supreme Court today agreed to hear a dispute over SB1070, Arizona's anti-immigration law.

The controversial law allows state police officers to ask about people's immigration status. The Tohono O'odham Nation and the Inter Tribal Council of Arizona oppose SB1070 and have filed briefs in litigation over the law.

The Supreme Court agreed to hear the case, Arizona v. US, in order list. Justice Elena Kagan, who served as Solicitor General in the months before the Department of Justice filed a lawsuit against Arizona, took no part in consideration of the petition.
